Little Words

Prepositions and Phrasal Verbs

O

This course concentrates on the little words which lawyers use in their work.

These words can sometimes have a huge impact on the meaning of a sentence.

For example

  • Lower the price by 10%
  • Lower the price to 10%

  • We'll go in two hours
  • We'll go for two hours
  • Description

The rule with little words is that ... there are no rules - you have to learn which combinations are correct and what they mean. The errors in prepositions and phrasal verbs are often the last to go, the most persistent ones in the language of even the most advanced learners.

After you’ve done this course, you’ll be able to use little words correctly: something which will make you stand out as a sophisticated, polished and professional communicator.

Very good. I think one of the most common difficulties that many non-native English speakers (including me) have when writing is prepositions and the course dealt with many confusing expressions that are commonly used.

I liked the simple structure of the course, where you present questions and then show the answers and questions.

And, the explanations were clear and straightforward. I felt that the explanations were detailed enough and neatly organized. They covered pretty much every question I had.
